Nanoscale Transport Phenomena

Adriatico Guesthouse, Trieste, Italy

Description

PLEASE NOTE: Accommodation at the Guesthouse available only from November 30th.

The FERMI free electron laser (FEL) is able to deliver photon pulses in the extreme ultraviolet and soft X-ray range with stability, coherence and tunability (both in photon energy and polarization) not far from those of a table-top laser.

This unique photon source has been used to implement time-resolved experimental methods, including polarimetry, nanoscale transient grating, X-ray absorption spectroscopy and scattering. These experimental tools hold great potential for studying dynamic processes related to phonon, charge and spin transport at the nanoscale. The results obtained so far demonstrated a range of feasible experiments and show interesting prospects.

On such grounds, the "nanoscale transport phenomena" workshop is aimed at starting an in depth discussion between instrumental scientists, users and internationally recognized experts in the fields of phonon, spin and charge transport.

This workshop will be hosted by Elettra-ST in the Adriatico Guesthouse, from November 30th to December 1st, 2023. No attendance fee is requested to the participants, unless you may want to attend to the conference dinner.

In addition to invited speakers, the workshop programme includes designated time for poster sessions; we encourage abstract submission for a poster presentation.

The registration form and the workshop's programme will be available soon, looking forward to seeing you in Trieste!
