Travel Grants for Early-Career Researchers

Travel grants are available for early-career researchers attending the NICE2026 workshop and presenting a contributed talk or poster. The number of grants to be awarded has not yet been determined. Applicants must submit a short motivation letter and CV as part of the travel grant application to NICE2026@elettra.eu with subject: “Early-career travel grant NICE 2026 application”.

Please note that travel grants are provided strictly as a reimbursement of eligible travel and accommodation expenses. Selected participants are therefore required to cover all travel and accommodation costs upfront. Reimbursements will be processed after the conference in accordance with the COST reimbursement policy guidelines.

The submission of a poster or an oral presentation, as well as applying for a travel grant, does not instantly guarantee the receipt of a grant. Applications will be evaluated by the Scientific Organizing Committee, taking into account factors such as age (i.e. Master or PhD students, Postdoc with < 3 years from PhD and < 35 year-old), country of origin (with priority given to participants from ITC countries), and gender balance as well the motivation letter and carrier achievements. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of the travel grant selection by 30th April 2026.

Subject to the availability of residual funds, additional travel grants may be awarded after the conference. The allocation of any such grants will also follow the COST reimbursement rules and eligibility criteria and cannot be guaranteed in advance.
