PRESENTATION AWARDS
EWEG/2D'24 introduces Presentation Award competitions aimed at showcasing the exceptional contributions of Young Researchers and PhD students (both under 35). These awards recognize excellence in two distinct categories:
- The Best Talk Award, sponsored by SPECSGROUP, will assess contributed talks based on the following criteria: quality of content and delivery style, originality and contribution to the field, clarity and coherence of the presentation, and timing and ability in addressing questions. The recipient of this award will be granted a certificate along with a prize of 700 EUR.
Presentation guidelines: a notebook will be provided with HDMI connection. Please ensure your presentation is loaded in either PowerPoint (ppt) or PDF format well in advance. Alternatively, you may use your own personal computer, but please ensure it has the necessary HDMI connection. Don't forget to bring the appropriate adapter if needed!
- The Best Poster Award, sponsored by MB Scientific AB, will be evaluated based on the following criteria: design, clarity of presentation (both visually and during discussion with the presenter), scientific merit, excellence in research, and depth of content knowledge in presenting the subject. The recipient of this award will receive a certificate along with a prize of 350 EUR.
Poster guidelines: poster boards will accommodate A0 size portrait posters: height 1189 mm (46.8 inches), width 841 mm (33.1 inches).
The Evaluation panels of experts will make the final decisions, taking into account all presenters who meet the eligibility criteria. The winners will be announced and honored during the awards ceremony, scheduled for Friday, May 17th, at the Conference Dinner held at the Savoia Excelsior Palace Trieste.

Conference Dinner
The EWEG/2D’24 conference dinner will be held on Friday, May 17th from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Savoia Excelsior Palace Trieste, in Riva del Mandracchio 4, just 5 min walk from the conference venue (https://collezione.starhotels.com/it/i-nostri-hotel/savoia-excelsior-palace-trieste/ristorazione/ristorante-savoy.html).
A gourmet seafood dining experience with creative cuisine and gems of local tradition will be served in the refined Central European atmosphere of the Savoy restaurant. This will be enriched with the finest wine labels, live music, and stunning waterfront views.
The winners of the Presentation Awards will also be announced during the dinner.
Conference Excursion
The EWEG/2D’24 Conference excursion will take place in the afternoon of May 16th departing directly from the conference venue at 2:30 p.m.
With a 5-minute walk, we will reach the Bersaglieri pier. Aboard the motorboat Delfino Verde Deluxe (https://www.delfinoverde.it/) we will set sail at 3 p.m. for an excursion into the Gulf of Trieste, discovering the city and castles in the area from a different and unforgettable perspective. A dedicated guide will describe the places and many fascinating stories.
Return after about 3 hours of sailing to the departure pier.
