Description
The resurgence of data-driven dynamic models offers the tantalising prospect of being able to implement feedback controllers directly from measurements of the input/output signals of the system to be controlled.
This tutorial will introduce data-driven control and discuss the contrasts and connections with system identification and predictive control.
The simplicity of the data-driven approach comes with some trade-offs and these will be discussed in terms of modelling and control design requirements.
It will be shown that data-driven methods can be blended with optimal estimation and control broadening the applicability of the approach.
The ideas presented will be applied to simulation examples to illustrate the concepts and provide a template for application experiments.
